Fanita Ranch is an essential biological reservoir and serves as a strategic biological linkage to adjacent open spaces within the Multiple Species Conservation Program in San Diego County. Fanita Ranch provides habitat for 21 mammal species, 22 species of reptiles and amphibians, and twenty-nine species of butterflies (including the endangered Quino checkerspot) and over 100 bird species including the threatened California gnatcatcher and the endangered least Bell's vireo. Fanita's steep unstable slopes act as a natural urban growth boundary, scenic viewshed and a logical extension of Mission Trails Regional Park.

On the Roger Hedgecock Show, Santee Mayor Randy Voepel claims to have SR-52 completion and widening fully funded on the fast track. Collinsworth says believe it when you see it, 2012 is the current completion estimate. Construction hasn't started on the SR-67 segment despite Santee Firefighter PACs 2004 guaranty of immediate completion.

Minto on SR-52 Completion

Why didn't the SR-52 construction schedule move up when Prop X lost as Councilman Minto promised? "Finish 52 NOW - No on X" KLSD Stacy Taylor Show prior to Election in 2005. The SR-52 to SR-67 construction schedule remains start 2009: finish 2012 on the Caltrans website http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist11/projectinfo/index.htm

Answer: The "Finish 52 NOW - No on X" argument was only a ploy to defeat the initiative. City officials knew Caltrans schedule would not change.
